DONALD TRUMP RANTS YET AGAIN ON TWITTER OVER CLAIMS THAT RUSSIA USED CYBERATTACKS TO HELP HIM DURING ELECTIONS

U.S president -elect Donald Trump took to his Twitter account yesterday to react to reports circulating that Russia helped him win the election using cyber attacks.

According to Trump, cyber attacks were used to favour Hillary Clinton as the leader of the Democratic party obtained information via cyber attacks and gave Hillary Clinton answers to each of her questions during the presidential election debates. He also urged Clinton's fans to come on the 20th of January for his swearing in ceremony. See more of his tweets below...

TOKE MAKINWA VISITS THE HOME SHE LOST HER PARENTS TO GAS EXPLOSION 23 YEARS AGO IN ABUJA

Popular Lagos media personality and Rhythm FM OAP, Toke Makinwa, for the first time in 23 years, paid a visit to the apartment where she lost her parents as a child in a gas explosion at the federal capital territory, Abuja.

 

"I've never been back there, it holds so much emotions and I always told myself I will only go once I have exhaled. Today I did; it was good to see where I played as a child, my home and so much more," the celebrity OAP wrote on Instagram.

 

Recall that her highly publicised book, "On Becoming", the self acclaimed bestselling author, revealed that she was only 8-years-old when a gas leak led to an explosion that killed her parents at their home in Abuja.

In the book, the OAP walked down memory lane to that day when her life changed. Her father was only 35 and her mother, 34.

 

She said: “My dad had come out of the building smelling of burning rubber, putting out the fire on his shorts as he tried to explain what happened to a crowd that seemed to be getting bigger every minute. There was something I could taste in my mouth; it was fear. Fear gripped me and I could barely move. In movies, you sometimes see a scene with someone burning from head to toe. Everyone ran back trying to figure out who it was. It took a moment to realise it was my mum. I stood glued to the spot watching her burn.”

 

Toke Makinwa, who is in Abuja for her book reading, says she is much stronger now and confronted that part of her life by visiting the old home. “It was good to see where I played as a child, my home and so much much,” she said.

60-YEAR-OLD MAN RECEIVES FREEDOM AND N23,000 COMPENSATION AFTER SERVING 31 YEARS JAIL TERM FOR WRONG CONVICTION

A 60-year-old man, Lawrence McKinney, who was wrongfully handed a 115-year imprisonment after he was convicted of rape and burglary in 1978 has been released and handed a N23,000 compensation.

He spent 31 years in prison for wrong conviction

The New York Daily News reports that the victim was later freed 31 years after because his DNA showed he was not responsible for the crime.

He was finally given a compensation of just about £60.

 However, he is currently seeking $1 million compensation and his case may be looked into by a parole board.

The man who hails from Memphis in Tennessee was quoted by the CBS News as saying: “I don’t have no life. All of my life was taken away.

“I don’t have no life, all my life was taken away.”

His lawyer, Jack Lowery, also argues that he deserves to be compensated for being denied freedom for most of his life.

 “It is not justice for him not to receive compensation for being wrongfully imprisoned,” Lowery said.

WOMAN SLAPS FEMALE POLICE OFFICER RIGHT INSIDE POLICE STATION

 

Few days after a man broke a Police Inspector’s jaw in Lagos for daring to invite him to the station, another woman, identified as Yinka Adewusi, has been brought before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ota, Ogun State, for slapping a police sergeant, Josephine Makinde.
Yinka reportedly slapped Josephine, who is attached to the Onipanu Police Division, while she was being interrogated in respect of a case of stealing and burglary reported by one Bidemi Balogun.
It was said that Bidemi, a resident of Mother Joy College Road, Ewupe, Ota, had reported to the police that some miscreants burgled her warehouse in the Fowobi area of Ota on Tuesday and made away with jerrycans of vegetable oil and bags of rice worth N469,000.

According to Punch, detectives, who visited the warehouse, recovered a mobile phone. Investigation was said to have indicted Yinka the slapper, and she was invited to the station.
“The complainant said 10 jerrycans of 25 litres vegetable oil valued at N140,000 and 21 bags of rice worth N329,000 were stolen from the warehouse. She shares the warehouse with other traders in the community,” a police source said.

According to the police, the suspect reportedly admitted entering the warehouse around 4.30am on the day to pack some goods she bought and kept therein the previous day from one Tinuke, but insisted that she met it burgled.

“During the interrogation, the suspect said the warehouse was already broken into when she got there. The Investigating Police Officer (Makinde), asked her why she came at that time to convey the goods when she knew the owners of the warehouse would not be around. She became angry and slapped the IPO,” the source added.

The suspect was subsequently arraigned in Ota Magistrate’s Court on one count of assault.
Yinka pleaded not guilty and elected summary trial.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Adelaja, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000.
Adjourning the case till February 6, 2017, the magistrate held that Yinka should be kept in prison pending when her bail conditions would be perfected.
