It was a glorious night at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards
at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC for the artists of YMCMB and
co-founders Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams.
The two brothers were honored this year as BMI Icons and were given the prestigious award amongst friends and family including Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Mack Maine and more! They join artists such as Mariah Carey, the Jacksons, Snoop Dogg and Isaac Hayes to receive this once in a lifetime honor.
"It’s something that my brother and I would’ve never been able to imagine at the genesis of our label," said Slim according to VIBE. “To be recognized by the industry like this, it’s humbling, and it’s inspiring.”
"We also want to thank BMI and everybody who’s ever believed in this dream that my brother and I first had over 20 years ago," said Birdman. "We’re going to keep everything going even stronger for the next 20."
Not only did Baby and Slim take home the Icon award, the artists of Young Money, including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Drake & Tyga, cleaned up as well, taking home a whopping 15 awards. Check out which awards they won below. View the full list of winners here.
