FG To Investigate Why Big Brother Nigeria's Production Is Done In South Africa
Big Brother Naija host, Ebuka Obi-Uchedu (L) and housemate (R)
The federal government has directed the National Broadcasting
Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the
reported shooting in South Africa of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria
reality show.
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has asked
the NBC to determine whether Multi-Choice has breached the Nigerian
Broadcasting Code in any way, by shooting the show in South Africa, as
well as the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never
told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria.
“As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” Mohammed said in a statement on Tuesday.
Mohammed noted while concerned Nigerians have bombarded his office
with calls to complain about what they regard as an anomaly – shooting
outside the country a show meant for Nigerians, he urged them to remain
calm while the NBC investigates the issue and submits its findings.

Rainstorm Kills 4, Destroys Over 80 Buildings In Rivers
Four persons were feared dead and over 80 houses destroyed in Obio/Akpor and some parts of Port Harcourt Local Council of Rivers State following a heavy rainstorm on Monday evening.
It was gathered that the downpour, which began around 4:30p.m. on Monday and lasted about four hours in places like Rumuodumanya, Rumuaholi, Rumosi, Rumokoro, and Mile Three was not witnessed in other parts of the city like Borokiri, Port Harcourt township, Amadi-ama and Abloma.
It was gathered that the first victim was a little girl selling fruits with her mother under an umbrella at Nkpolu junction, close to the Mile Three Market.
It was learnt that the little girl and her mother took cover under the umbrella when the rain began, but unfortunately, a thunderstorm struck and pulled down an electric pole which fell on top of the umbrella and hit the little girl on her head, leading to her instant death.
The rain, which also destroyed buildings, fences and electric poles, reportedly killed another 15-year-old girl and her brother, while their mother escaped unhurt in the Mile Three axis.
Eyewitnesses said a telecoms mast fell from a fenced compound in the University of Continuing Education into a Community Secondary School, located at Mile Three, Diobu in Port Harcourt, killing the duo.
Narrating the ordeal, the mother of the victims, a 45-year-old Mrs. Eucheria Charles, said the mast fell on a pole which ultimately fell on her 15-year-old daughter and the boy, killing them instantly.
Another victim, a man identified as Mr. Coach, was said to have died on his way to the hospital.
According to an eyewitness, Mrs. Jesica Odu, “we were on the road before the mast fell. The thing affected a signpost, which both hit the girl. The girl was returning from an errand the mother sent her. The signboard also hit one man known as Coach on his head.”
This is the second rainfall in 2017, though other parts of the city are yet to experience any. The first rain was witnessed last week and it also wreaked havoc on property, but no life was lost.
When The Guardian visited some of the affected areas, some residents, whose houses were submerged, were seen moving their valuables from the flood. They expressed surprise at the destruction that trailed the downpour.
Efforts to speak with the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) were futile as their phones were not reachable.
Meanwhile, the Port Harcourt Distribution Electricity Company (PHED) has confirmed that the rainstorm destroyed most of its electric poles, regretting that the incident has led to power outage in some parts of the city.
Spokesman of PHED, John Onyi, said: “Yes, we are aware about the rainstorm, it destroyed most of our property, including electric poles and that has resulted in power outage in some areas, but we are making efforts to fix them back.”
Also speaking on the incident, the Managing Director of the Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency, Chukwudi Dimkpa, admitted that the poles fell because it had a weak base instead of a more fortified one.
Dimkpa, who spoke when he visited the scene of the disaster, noted that many signage poles in Port Harcourt were not properly maintained, and pledged to intensify efforts to address it.

When a thief kisses you, count your teeth. AKINKUNMI LANRE ODEKUNLE is a boy I took in as family with the hope of seeing you soar and being appeased by your peers as successful instead you constantly chose the wrong part of bringing disgrace to us and the entire team. I warned you to be weary of one thing “STEALING” cos it might destroy you but when it is a dealing that also includes family then you have given me no choice. He lied to us for 4 years that he was in the university of Lagos, taking money, school fees and he never visited class for one day.
A shocking video of this guy was sent to me swearing at a shrine, of not stealing N250,000 from a friend. He was beaten badly! (I’ll POST IT)
Now let me break it down and please guys learn
He is an ATM fraudster what you all know as “LOCAL”
One of his tricks is he gets your ATM or Pin, unlocks it
and gives to a friend who has a POS and swipes it to the POS owner’s account. He destroys it afterwards. I was a victim. Another story for another day.
I was angry that a few of my things were stolen on my last trip to London. He stole all, my money, wristwatch, perfume, an Ultra skinny MacBook (gold) laptop and sold it for 120,000. He pain me die cos I lost all my work.
He has a constant dealer in Surulere that he sells stolen phones and laptops to.
I forgave him so many times and I even put a call through to @aleeygiwa for advice . Well, I have listened to my parents and wards who said I should let it all go even tho I felt a lil cheated but not without letting the world know a face you shouldn’t deal with. He is tarnishing my reputation and I won’t let that happen.
We get all sort of calls on his misbehavior and actions how he uses my company to transact shady businesses. PLEASE BEWARE OF HIM AND HE doesn’t work for ECLEFTIC ENTERTAINMENT anymore.
He constantly gives his proceed to a girl he’s being dying to date, he is quite desperate and he was so much in love that he wrote the girl’s full name at his back, so for proper identification guys, check his back
He was a boy I took in cos he wanted tutoring and didn’t have a means, so I decided to help. He was a junior in high school. He is on the run now.”
“(Part 1) He is the guy in white. They say it’s a more orthodox way of catching a thief. According to the video; If the feathers stays down, it means you didnt. If it stays down, then you did. Well, we all might not believe in it but I got this video of where he was caught. Now, it’s the confidence he still had to still take the routine. He is very dangerous and I can’t imagine why he would still go through the process when you know you stole it. Akin I’ll advice you, stay away from this act and it won’t change my lil will to help. It hurt me tho.”
“(PART 2) When he was caught. It isn’t a bad thing to see above everything. This is my human side and I am sorry, I couldn’t hold this in. If anything happens to me or my family. I hold you responsible AKINKUNMI and I am PUTTING IT OUT HERE!!! …have a nice day guys”
