Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, who recently criticized the
appointments of some persons she alleged did not contribute to her
husband’s emergence as president in the 2015 elections but have hijacked
the government, has declared she is interested in the success of her
husband’s administration.
She had earlier in the interview expressed her frustration about “the
way things are going,” declaring “I am not happy. It was people that
brought the government into power.
More than half of those people are not appointed into
the government. Some people that are not politicians, not
professionals, were brought into government. They don’t even know what
we said we want and what we don’t during campaigns,” she said on the BBC
Hausa service.
Both the interview and the President’s response in Berlin, Germany, drew
mix reactions from across Nigeria, fueling speculation of likely cracks
in the first family.
But in what appeared like a response to the heat generated by her
interview and apparently her first public reaction, Aisha said yesterday
at Beneshiek, headquarters of Kaga Local Government in Borno state,
that her interests lie in the success of President Buhari’s government.
“What I am after in particular is the success of my husband’s
administration and he can’t do it alone except with the help of the
governors, their wives and all members of our progressive party,”
she declared at the flag off of nutritional foods and household utensils
to Internally displaced persons who recently returned to their
communities.
Looking calmer and smiling throughout the occasion, Aisha advised wives
of political leaders, governors, legislators, local government chairmen
and counsellors to work closely with their husbands for the well-being
of the people.
She explained that the distribution of the food items and other relief
materials for the returnee IDPs was sourced from donations by
well-meaning Nigerians through her recently launched ‘Get Involve’
programme under her Future Assured project. She stated that the
launching of the Get Involve “consolidated and united” Nigerians even as
she thanked those who made donations for the programme, saying the
people of Borno appreciate their gesture.
She said she was happy that the flag off of the food distribution took
place, noting that it was in fulfillment of her husband’s campaign
promise to resettle displaced victims of Boko Haram insurgency and
rescue all citizen abducted or held by Boko Haram including the Chibok
girls.
“We thank almighty Allah that we have started fulfilling some of the
campaign promises that we made. This is the essence of leadership; you
make a promise and then fulfilled it. We thank my dear husband who make
sure peace is returned to the northeast states,” she said.
Wife of Borno State governor, Nana Shettima commended Mrs Buhari for the
distribution, adding that it was the third time the First Lady would
visit the state to attend to the humanitarian challenges of Borno
people. She assured that she will continue to collaborate with Mrs
Buhari’s Future Assured project through her Support for Widows, Orphans
and Tsangaya (SWOT) programme.

MARIAH CAREY AND JAMES PACKER HAVE REPORTEDLY CALLED IT QUIT
Carey has told Nick Cannon about the breakup but they have not discussed it at length.
Neither Carey nor Packer has publicly commented on the reported breakup. Australian tabloid Woman's Day was the first to report the split, with TMZ shortly after claiming the duo called it quits.
The former couple met in 2014 at a movie premiere in Aspen, Colo. "We were talking and laughing, and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that," Carey told Steve Harvey in 2015. "So, we hit it off."
At the time, Carey also revealed she wanted the nuptials to happen ASAP. "If everything works out, it will be somewhat soon," she said. Since both of them had been married twice before, she added, "We are not doing a big wedding...We would rather make it beautiful but humble."

I AM NOT A WOMANISER - MAJID MICHEL
Majid Michel’s experience on the set of his first epic movie, Ayamma, which was shot recently somewhere in Akwa Ibom State, has left a sweet-sour taste in his mouth.
The actor, in an interview with Punch correspondent in Lagos, described the experience as very challenging. He said,
“Leaving home to a very distant land to shoot a movie in a forest full of insects and darkness was quite challenging for me. We didn’t put on tops while the shooting lasted.
Even if we did, it still would not have prevented all kinds of insects — not just mosquitoes — from biting our faces, bare feet and hands.”
The experience also exposed the religious part of the award-winning actor, which many movie fans had never known. Asked if he learnt any lesson from his stint in the ‘forest’, he replied, “I have just realised that the authority of Jesus Christ must be asserted in every culture and tradition.
I believe that Jesus came to purge these cultures and to take them away. Also, He came to take away our traditions and to replace them with His kingdom on earth. I believe that the real culture is the way of God.”
Majid’s statement, no doubt, contrasts sharply with his image on the screen as a male sex symbol.
Reminded about this image, his appearance in several amorous movie scenes and asked if he had always kept the Christian part of him aside when going on location, the actor said, “When I am on the set of a movie, I am a completely different Majid.
The character that you see on the screen is somebody else who tries to convey the message in a movie to an audience. This person’s goal is to educate the people on the things that are happening to the society in real life. I am Majid Michel, but I play different characters in the movies. So, in a movie, you see a character, not Majid.”
Although it is common knowledge that he is adored by many female movie fans, the Ghanaian told our correspondent that he had never been obsessed with women, as portrayed in most of the movies that he has been featured.
Then, admitting that he was often drawn to women for different reasons other than romance, he said, “I like women a lot, but I don’t mess around with them. I am not a womaniser. I am just drawn to a lot of women and it ends there.”
MY PLANE CRASHED ON MY WAY TO ATTEND A MEETING IN THE UK - MAN FOUND IN SAPELE RIVER, DELTA STATE
A man was found yesterday at Ajogodo River, Sapele, Delta State.
Explaining his reason for being there, the unidentified man confessed to newsmen that he was ‘flying’ from Benin Airport, Edo State, to attend a meeting in the United Kingdom.
He told his audience that he was also billed to watch a football match going on simultaneously also in the United Kingdom.
"It crashed me into this bridge, when the fuel in it finished. My members will be here tonight to refuel it for me, so I can continue my journey to the UK.”
“I have to be in the UK to watch football, because there is economic recession, unemployment and inflation in Nigeria”, the mysterious man added.
PATIENCE JONATHAN DEMANDS $200 MILLION FROM EFCC FOR FREEZING HER $15 MILLION
Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday fixed December 7 to hear a suit by ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan, against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, seeking to unfreeze her account.
Apart from the EFCC, other respondents are Skye Bank and a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Waripama-Owei Dudafa.
Also joined in the suit are Pluto Property and Investment company Ltd, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd, Transocean Property and Investment Company Ltd and Globus Integrated Service Ltd.
The ex-first lady is demanding $200 million from the commission as damages for infringing on her rights.
She is also urging the court to issue an order discharging the freezing order and restraining the EFCC and its agent from further placing a freezing order on the said accounts.
When the case was called on Wednesday, Rotimi Oyedepo, announced appearance for the EFCC, while Granville Abibo appeared for Mrs. Jonathan.
Addressing the court, Mr. Oyedepo informed the judge that the case was coming up for the first time, adding that some of the respondents had yet to be served with the court’s processes.
He said the case was not yet “ripe for hearing”, having been served with the processes on October 19 and is yet to file a response.
His submission was, however, not contested by counsel to the plaintiff.
Consequently, Justice Babs Kuewumi fixed December 7 for hearing.
In an affidavit in support deposed to by Sammie Somiari, a lawyer, he averred that on March 22, 2010, she (Jonathan) had opened five different accounts with Skye Bank with the assistance of one Damola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi.
He averred that the account mandate forms were duly completed and signed by her.
According to him, Mrs. Jonathan subsequently discovered that apart from one of the accounts that bore her name, the other four accounts were opened in the name of four companies which were companies belonging to Dudafa.
He said she also observed that the ATM cards of the said accounts were issued in the names of the companies, adding that she complained to Dudafa, who promised to effect the necessary changes.
He said Dipo Oshodi also promised to effect the necessary changes.
Mr. Somiari averred that Mrs. Jonathan is not a director, shareholder or participant in these companies and the funds in the said accounts were solely owned and operated by her.
“Dudafa does not own any part of the funds in the said accounts.”
According to the deponent, the Skye Bank official (Mr. Oshodi) did not effect the instructions of the plaintiff to change the name of the said accounts to her name, in spite of repeated request.
He stated that notwithstanding the refusal of the bank to effect the necessary changes, she had been using the said ATM cards without any interference.
The deponent averred that sometime in July, Mrs. Jonathan discovered that the ATM cards were not functioning, and immediately contacted the bank, who informed her that a “No debit/freezing order” had been placed on the accounts.
“On further enquiry, the bank informed her that the accounts were frozen on the directive of EFCC as a result of ongoing investigation in relation to Mr. Dudafa.”
Jonathan, therefore, contended that she was never arrested or invited by the EFCC prior to the freezing order placed on the accounts.
She further contends that the freezing order on her funds on the directive of EFCC without an order of the court is unlawful and illegal.
Consequently, Mrs. Jonathan is seeking an order of court, directing the unfreezing of her account forthwith and also wants an order restraining the EFCC from taking further steps in relation to the said account pending the determination of the suit.
