Breaking News: OBJ Leaves PDP, Says He Cannot Stand a Wanted Criminal as Zonal Party Leader in the South-West

The season of letters continued on January 11, 2014, Saturday, as a new document from Olusegun Obasanjo has leaked the web.

In the new message OBJ narrates about his decision to withdraw activites in the ruling party, PDP.

Dear Chairman,

While I believe that a good and truly national political party must be a microcosm of the nation in its membership made up of all sorts of characters from near-saints to near-satan, I also believe that on no account should a known habitual criminal that is wanted abroad to face criminal that is wanted abroad to face criminal charges leveled against him should be extolled as a political leader in a respectable and wholesome nation-building political party.

Buruhi Kasharnu has been so extolled in PDP in South-West geo-political zone which I personally find unsavoury. Politics played by any national political party must have morality, decency, discipline, principles and leadership examples as cardinal practices of the Party. O have attached here recent documents that clearly indicated that your extolled PDP Zonal Leader in the South-West Zone of Nigeria and in indigene of Ogun State is, to say the least, not a credit to the Party as a member let along being a zonal leader.

Since I stack in my practice of party politics to the hallowed and cherished principles enunciated above, I take this opportunity to let you know that while I continue to remain a card-carrying member of PDP, I cannot and I will not subscribe to a wanted habitual criminal being installed as my zonal leader in the Party; a criminal for who extradition has been requested by the US Government, in the meantime, I will consider withdrawing my activity with PDP at Local, State, Zonal and national levels until the anomalous and shameful situation is corrected.

BOKO HARAM DESTROYS ANOTHER CHURCH: Church, NA Member's House In Borno State Burnt

Gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Islamic militants, Boko Haram have burnt down a church and a house of a National Assembly member, Hon. Peter Biye.
They carried out the attack on Friday in Gwoza town of Gwoza Local Government council of Borno State.
Biye, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Damboa, Chibok and Gwoza federal constituency disclosed that a church, located close to his house was not spared by the assailants.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, the legislator said when the assailants stormed his house at Bzuba village along Gwoza Pulka road at night on Wednesday, they carted away over 70 domestic animals before setting the building on fire.
He said about three weeks before the incident, he had raised alarm on the need for military authorities to intensify security in the area but nothing was done.
"While in the house, the attackers burnt a consignment of sorghum which was meant for distribution to our people to cushion their hardships. They also burnt 30,000 pieces of exercise books, 30,000 packets of biro and 30,000 packets of chalk which I bought for distribution to schools in my constituency. When I got information from my people that the insurgents were in my village, I called the officer in charge of the area but he did not pick my call. It was the next day that he called back and told me that he was no longer in charge of the area”, he said.
There was no official statement from the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army but a senior military officer who spoke under anonymity confirmed the attack.

OH NO! Nollywood Actress Monalisa Chinda Dragged to Court

A former editor with Monalisa Chinda's newly-launched ‘Monalisa’ magazine, Kelvin Keshi, has dragged the Nollywood diva to court.

The plaintiff, Kelvin, who has been in a war with his former boss alleged Mona, as the sultry actress is fondly called, of slander.

He further claimed that the star actress defamed him in an interview she granted City People in 2013, by calling him a ‘half-baked journalist’.

Kelvin’s lawyers, Megafield Solicitors, frowned at Monalisa's statement in the interview and handed out a legal suit notification to the actress on behalf of their client.

According to Nigeriafilms.com, who contacted Monalisa's publicist, the actress and her team were aware of the lawsuit.

“Yes, she's been served and her lawyers are dealing with it appropriately.

“The Kelvin guy is only trying to take advantage of Lisa's (Monalisa) status and soft hearted nature because he's got nothing to lose,” the publicist said.

Basketmouth is in London and he sat down with Adesope Olajide of Vox Africa to speak on the rape joke he cracked on facebook that went negatively viral a few days back.

On Rape Joke Controversy:
“Definitely I am sorry about what happened. The people that it offended. I won’t say the people that misunderstood but the people that it offended. It’s not like I left Nigeria because of that, I already booked my ticket since three months ago.
It limits me though. Now it limits the type of jokes I’m going to be cracking right now. Sadly, every joke hits people the wrong way. If I crack jokes about food, there are people in third world countries saying, ‘Why is he cracking jokes about food? Have I chop na?’ They will just go on twitter and say ‘This guy should stop cracking jokes about food, I haven’t eaten’.”

On topics that are off limits:
“No. If you’re a comedian, you have the power to crack jokes because the truth is humour has no limits. You can crack jokes about death, living, anything you want to crack jokes about. Humour has its own education that sends a message. Everything is funny. Everything in life is funny, there is humour in everything that we do. Society actually structures one.
For me, the only thing that limits me is if I go for a church event I won’t crack any joke that has any X in it. Then if I go for an event where everyone is drinking and drunk with their wives, I’m not going to be cracking jokes about Noah and Solomon, I have to crack a joke that suits them. I crack my jokes according to the audience.
So that’s my limit. I limit myself according to the audience, but when it comes to jokes there shouldn’t be any limit. But because of the culture and everything, you have to respect the fact that people might find it offensive and just hold back.”
On people finding jokes offensive:
“The truth about jokes is no matter what type of joke you crack there are people in the audience that won’t find it funny. People get offended for different reasons. Wale Gates was telling me about a joke he cracked about his wife and how someone was upset and said, ‘Why would you crack a joke about your wife.’ And he said ‘Look, she’s my wife. If anyone is going to be upset, can you let her be upset?’
And she heard the joke before and she wasn’t upset. People take jokes in different ways, unfortunately everybody made it look like it’s the first joke that I’m cracking. I cracked a joke about “Two things involved” and it ended up being a positive angle and nobody talked about it. The only joke that people like that I’ve cracked right now is about me dying. I cracked a joke about my funeral and they loved it.”

A group of partying girls were stunned when Beyoncé gate-crashed their private booth while they were singing HER song in a near-empty karaoke bar.

Incredibly the girls didn’t recognize her - or Destiny’s Child band mate Kelly Rowland - but continued to sing and dance with them anyway.
The pop megastars even photobombed one of the girls who had passed out after enjoying a "five-hour drinking and singing session" in low-key Sing Song, Miami.
The group arrived at the joint in three black SUVs around midnight on Tuesday with an entourage of 10 people.
Karaoke boss Kellie Pilicer said: “A big security-looking guy walked in and asked us what time we closed. I’m thinking he’s going to come in with a couple of other people.
“Then one woman comes up and asks me where the bathroom is and I look up and it’s freaking Beyoncé.”
Pilicer reassured the Single Ladies hitmaker she wouldn’t be disturbed by other revellers with just TWO of the 17 karaoke rooms being occupied when the group arrived to the South Beach venue.
But Queen B wasn’t bothered and instead of hiding out to chill with her friends she insisted on joining another party.

When she stumbled across a hired booth, she “walked right in” to hear them singing Party, a hit from her previous album ‘4’.
“There’s no way we could have planned it, no one had any idea,” said Pilicer.
“They didn’t immediately recognise who either of them were. They started dancing together but still had no idea who it is. All of a sudden one of the girls looks at Kelly and says.
“Oh, you look like Kelly Rowland” and then looks at Beyoncé and goes “Oh my god!”

In a moment of utter brilliance, Kelly and Beyoncé then photobomb the sleeping friend and don’t even wake her – which will go down in history of the biggest fail in her entire life.

Sexiest Nollywood Actor And Actress 2013

 The quest carried out by Vanguard for the Sexiest man and woman in Nollywood for the year 2013 has come to an end, leaving us with interesting results.

The Sexiest woman, according to the votes that came him from the readers through sms and cut-off coupons from Vanguard newspaper is Tonto Dikeh, while Yul Edochie emerged the Sexiest man in the men’s category.

Yul Edochie, Tonto Dike Yul Edochie, Tonto Dike Tonto beat Ebube Nwagbo and Colette Orji who came second and third respectively. Follwing the first three women are Cynthia Agholor on 4th and Stephanie Okereke on 5th.
In the Men’s category, Yul Edochie overcame challenges from Benson Okonkwo and Uti Nwachukwu who came second and third respectively. Odunlade Adekola and Ali Nuhu completed the picture at fourth and fifth places respectively.
How it began
The quest began with 25 men and women who were nominated by our readers. Actors that got the most votes over a period of one month qualified to run in the quest.
After the first two months of running profiles on each of the contestant, the countdown began with the five people exiting the quest.
The figure moved from 25 to 20 then to 15. The last fifteen people enjoyed a long stay in the quest after which the countdown began again with a contestant exiting the game every until the final five emerged.
The final five was made of Tonto Dikeh, Stephanie Okereke, Cynthia Agholor, Colette Orji, and Ebube Nwagbo for the Sexiest woman category.
Yul Edochie, Uti Nwachukwu, Odunlade Adekola, Benson Okonkwo and Ali Nuhu made the final five for the Sexiest man category.
Past winners
The Sexiest in Nollywood public opinion poll started in 2008 and the maiden edition winners were Genevieve Nnaji and Jim Iyke. Genevieve won the crown as the Sexiest woman in Nollywood 2008 followed by Ini Edo in second place and Mercy Johnson in third.
For the men, Emeka Ike and Desmond Elliot trailed Jim Iyke as the first runner-up and second runner-up.
The winners in 2009 were Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Desmond Elliot. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde beat Genevieve Nnaji and Chika Ike to be crowned the Sexiest woman in Nollywood 2009 while Desmond Elliot floored Chidi Mokeme and Richard Mofe-Damijo to emerge the Sexiest man in Nollywood 2009.
