ANGELO AND I ARE NOW AN ITEM, NO MORE, NO LESS- BEVERLY OSU
Former Big Brother Housemate, Beverly Osu is a free-spirited person has we all know, but what has been a little bit amusing to her fans and critics alike was her consistent denial of a sexual liaison with fellow housemate and South Africa’s representative, Angelo Collins in the Big Brother House.
The pretty lady has, however, laid it all bare in an interview with ThisDay Newspaper chiding her critics for blowing it all out of proportion.
She also hinted that she is still in a budding relationship with the former housemate despite several indications to the contrary saying, “Angelo and I are now an item and that’s how I want to answer the question. No more, no less.”
Read excerpts from the interview below:
LIFE OUTSIDE BBA…
My life outside BBA has been wonderful. It’s nothing I cannot handle.
THE PAINS AND GAINS…
Well, I’m usually a very busy person, but it’s just that right now, I’ve been a very unstable person. Sometimes, I can’t even stay here in Lagos for a week without traveling here and there. I think that’s a good thing because good things are coming out of it. And apparently, there’s always the negative side and that is mostly things that are not true that you hear about yourself; how people see you and so on. Some people don’t really bother about perception, but if you’re somebody like me, you will think about it and sometimes it will affect your work. But I thank God that my life has been good.
REACTION TO NEGATIVE STORIES …
I just keep praying about it. And I also have it at the back of my mind that there’s no way this thing can just go away. It affects my relationship with people sometimes because I won’t just want to have any conversation with anybody. I just try to continue to be who I am and obviously when you have something to do, you channel your efforts into that. I rid myself of all the negative feelings when they creep in.
HOW I FEEL AFTER THE SEX SCENE AT THE BBA…
Apparently, I don’t feel sorry because I was being myself. So, I can’t say sorry to anyone who feels disappointed. They’re living their lives and I’m living mine. The only difference is that I was in a house where I had to make the platform work for me; the platform everybody enjoyed seeing me make. If you guys stuck to your television for 91 days only to see my faults, then you should check yourself because people have their faults and it’s only people with faults that quickly notice that in other persons. I don’t criticise people and I don’t think people should critisise me because no matter how you look at it, I’m still a youth.
ABOUT THE PORNOGRAPHY VIDEO MAKING THE ROUNDS ABOUT ME…
Well, when I saw it, I just told myself, this thing didn’t start today. Looking at the picture of the girl in the video, obviously, she looks like me and I cannot even deny that. When I saw it, I was like, ‘Oh my God!’ And I cannot say that’s from photoshop because that’s not a photoshop picture. The girl is someone who really looks like me and I don’t know where she came from. But anybody who really knows me well enough will know that is not me. We have differences in our faces, but people can do what they want to do, it can sometimes break me inside. I’ll still be strong. It’s only here in Nigeria that people don’t appreciate their own, it doesn’t happen like that outside here. I traveled to Tanzania and I saw how they appreciated their country man.
WHAT I’M PRESENTLY UP TO…
I lost my grand mother before I left the BBA house. My mom and I are trying to bury her and you know how communal Africans are. I’m still trying to get balance with my family. I still have appearances to do and things to work on.
ABOUT MAKING FATHERLAND PROUD…
If people don’t believe I made Nigeria proud, I think next year everybody should try to be in a reality show even if it’s a beauty pageant. Then we will all know how it feels. As for me, I forget about the cameras and if I’m still on their lips till next year when the next season of BBA is on, then I’ll know that I’m so much relevant. But if it fades away, that’s how I will know that Nigerians are just hypocrites.
BETWEEN ME AND ANGELO..
Angelo and I are now an item and that’s how I want to answer the question. No more, no less.
MY ALTER EGO…
I’m a very free-spirited person, calculated and reserved in a funny way. I have up to 17 characters and many sides to me. I have the very religious side, the crazy side, very stubborn side, romantic side and so on.
WHEN I PIERCED MY TONGUE…
I pierced my tongue since I was 17 years old here in Nigeria.
Fulani, Yoruba Clash In Ilorin, Four Feared Dead
About four people were feared dead on Friday following a clash
between Yoruba indigenes and Fulani people living at Alapa
Village along Iseyin Road, Ilorin-East Local Government Area of
Kwara State.
Trouble purportedly started on Monday when a Yoruba man,
whose name is yet to be identified, was allegedly attacked and
killed by yet-to-be-identified Fulani cattle rearers on a
farmland.
The victim was said to have died on the spot.
PUNCH correspondent gathered on Friday, that when the victim’s kinsmen
heard about the death of their townsman, they were said to have
mobilised and attacked some Fulani men that they found.
The revenge was said to have lasted from Tuesday to Thursday,
leading to the burning of some huts belonging to the Fulanis in
the bush.
The Fulani people were said to have consequently deserted their
houses in the bush for fear of further reprisal.
A source told our correspondent that three Fulani corpses had
been evacuated from the bush, while the remains of the Yoruba
man had also been recovered by the police.
He added that many huts belonging to the Fulanis in the bush
had been razed before the police intervened.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Agboola Oshodi-
Glover, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on
Friday, declined to state the number of casualties.
He, however, confirmed the clash and said that the police had
restored peace in the area, as people had returned to their
businesses.
“I am yet to be properly briefed on the casualty rate, so I
cannot name a figure yet. Everything is now under control.
There was something like clash there,” Oshodi-Glover said.
Maritime Workers Threaten Strike Over Unpaid Salaries
Members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria on Friday protested their unpaid salary arrears by the Nigeria Port Authority.
The placard-carrying protesters stormed
the national secretariat of the union, lamenting that they were deprived
of their entitlements.
Though an agreement has been entered
into between the union and NPA, the workers alleged that there was no
sign that the port authority was ready to honour the agreement.
A copy of the agreement signed on August
15 and obtained by our correspondent, read in part, “The end of October
2013 was agreed for the payment of the outstanding bills after approval
for the supplementary budget has been fully obtained.”
Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 1,400 workers in the country are owed an estimated N500m.
Chairman of the tally clerks and
on-board security men, poll district, Lagos, Mr. Akeem Lawal, who spoke
on behalf of other workers, said they had not been paid for eight
months.
He said, “There was an agreement between
the union and management of the NPA, which was that at the end of
October, they are going to pay us our money.
“We want to know why they used our money
to pay cargo surveyors. As legal workers, we want to know why we should
not be paid our entitlements.”
The President of the MWUN, Mr. Tony
Nted, who received the protesters, assured that if the NPA did not pay
them by October 31, the union would embark on an indefinite strike until
payments are made.
He said, “We have had meetings with the
Ministry of Works and NPA. We agreed that the arrears in salary, not
arrears in increment, will be paid on or before the end of October. We
want to believe that on October 30, the NPA will honour that agreement
or the union will have no other alternative than to withdraw the
services of members from all the ports of the federation.”
