Kim Kardashian will never see her stolen jewelry again. According to one of the thieves responsible, most of the bling doesn’t even exist anymore.

Paris law enforcement confirms to TMZ … one of the thieves in the October robbery confessed everything but the ring was melted down … because the robbers felt they’d be caught trying to sell the pieces.

 According to Le Monde newspaper, the melted down bling was worth somewhere between $26k and $30k. Pretty shocking since the value of the melted down jewelry was $1.6 million.

As for the $4 million ring … it’s still intact, but law enforcement tells us there’s almost no chance of finding it. As we reported, police believe it went almost immediately to the Belgium black market.

2 Dead, 8 Injured In An Accident Along Akure-Owo Road

The Federal Road Safety Corps has advised against obstruction, overloading and over speeding following an accident which happened on Friday, January 27, on Akure -Owo (ilu Abo). The accident involved a Toyota bus with an inscription "Nothing Pass God' and a Mack trailer left two persons dead and eight others seriously injured. The victims were taken to State Specialist Hospital, Akure.
                                                       

LAUTECH Lecturers Promise To continues Strike Until States Pay N7.6 Billion Outstanding Subvention

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has said lecturers would continue their strike until owner-states agree to pay N7.6 billion outstanding subvention.

The ASUU Chairman in LAUTECH, Dr. Biodun Olaniran, who spoke at the weekend on the issue, said that the owner states owe institution about N7.6 billion and that out of this, Osun State owes N5.3 billion, while Oyo State is owing about N2.3 billion.

He said: “While we understand the economic situation of the country, we have to think about our welfare too. We cannot continue to be owed salaries and subventions by the owners.
“We are talking about a workable payment plan of the balance of subventions owed by the owners, our salaries and other wages.” Explaining that the action is to protect its members and also the institution’s students, the union cited insincerity on the part of the owners-states and lack of their commitment as the other reasons responsible for their latest decision.


The lecturers have been on strike since June 2, 2016 with academic activities in the institution paralysed since then. Olaniran said the union wants to start on a clean slate in 2017. “We don’t want them to plunge the school into huge debts that will choke it. Our position is straightforward. It is not tied to salaries but the sustainable funding of the university.

The ASUU chairman disclosed: “The two states are supposed to give LAUTECH N295 million as subventions every month but they have not been doing this. The two states just paid LAUTECH N500 million. This is not enough. Is it going to be monthly or how? They have to state this and assure us that from January 2017, they will no longer owe. If this is not done, we will resume and go back to the starting point very soon.”

He insisted that the two states must commit themselves to prove that they were ready to defray the outstanding subvention. On the meeting it held with the alumni association of the school last week, the union chairman said the meeting was called to explain the situation to the body (alumni). They expressed sympathy and promised to wade into the matter.

First Heavy Rainfall In 2017 Causes Flooding, Traffic Jam In Lagos

The first heavy rainfall in the Lagos metropolis on Monday left in its wake flooding and traffic jam in some parts of the city.
The rain, which started in the early hours of Monday, left knee-deep floods in some parts of Adeniji area in Lagos Island as well as Ikoyi and Victoria Island in Eti Osa Local Government Area.
Some of the residents at Idumagbo Avenue on Lagos Island said that the flooding was caused by the blockage of the major canal in the neighbourhood and its overflow.

One of the residents, Mr Yinka Shittu, said that ongoing road construction works in the area also contributed to the flooding.

He said, “You can see that there is ongoing reconstruction work on this road which has not been completed.
“Also, construction works where the drainage canal meets the road have yet to be completed.
“Traders and some of us living in this area have tried to open up the drainage systems but the water had been stagnant.”

Alhaji Malik Yaro, a watch repairer and trader in the area, said that some residents had the drains into refuse dumps.
He said, “I am, therefore, not surprised that the floodwater here today was knee deep.
“People dump refuse of all sorts — empty containers, takeaway plates and papers — in the drainage system.

“I am assuring you that if the situation it continues this way, nobody will like to pass through this place whenever it rains heavily like this again and the floodwater may enter people’s homes and shops.”

Another trader, Mr. Chudi Ibeazu, noted that the construction works in the neighbourhood were not moving fast the way they ought to be.
He said, “Since November 2016, the slabs where the canal joined the main road had been opened and we have not seen any serious work to show that they want to open up the drainage system for water to flow.
“You can see from the pattern of flooding; on the left side, coming from Adeniji, the water is still moving but on the right side, the water is not moving at all.
“My wish is for the government to take a cue from the effect which this rainfall had on the area and speed up construction works in the area.

“We clear the drainage system at the point where the canal joins the road every other day and especially on Thursdays, but the problem is that the water in the canal does not flow.”
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare, said that the government would not relent in its efforts to stem flooding in every part of the Lagos metropolis.
He, however, underscored the need for people to change their indiscriminate waste disposal habits and refrain from turning canals and drains into refuse dumpsites.

Adejare said that such behavioural change was necessary because sudden rainfall, like the one that occurred on Monday, would cause flooding.
He said that the rainwater would also carry the debris out of the drains and litter the roads, thereby making the roads very untidy and filthy.

Man Poisons His 11-Year-Old Twin Daughters To Death, Accused Them Of Witchcraft In Calabar

 

A 40-year-old man, Anyanime Festus was arrested by the Cross River State Police Command for  allegedly poisoning his twin daughters in Akampka Local Government Area of Cross River in Calabar. The father poisoned his children because he blamed them for the death of his parents.
The father was arrested by the Divisional Police Station, Akampka, and then transferred to Police Headquarters in Calabar.

The suspect allegedly gave his 11-year-old twin daughters a black substance mixed with acid, took them to a bush path and made them drink it. The substance which is believed to be poison, led to their death on January 10 and 11, 2017.

According to Vanguard, a source said:

“The man told us that his daughters confessed to be witches and that he had no choice other than to kill them before they kill him. So he mixed acid with malt, took the twins to a bush path and gave them the substance to drink.”

Another source said:

“The twins were always wandering the streets. When brought back home by strangers, Festus usually chased them out again without food. Sometimes they were locked up and not given food for days.”

Vanguard reports that the twin girls had been imprisoned by their father for about three days after which he told them that he was going to them to school. He let them out and took them to the bush path where they were both poisoned

An eyewitness, said that before one of the twins died, she revealed that their father had taken them to a bush path at Nyaghasan on a bike, brought out a black substance and gave to them to drink.
She said they both drank it, but because the substance was bitter, she refused the second portion, but her sister drank both portions that their father offered them.

She said the twin said after they took the poison,  they started having stomach ache and complained to their father, who then pretended like he was going to get help for them but never returned for them.
The witness said:

“Not too long after, they started feeling dizzy and then fell asleep. When she woke up and tapped her sister, she was no longer breathing. 

“The deceased said she had to drag her sister’s lifeless body from the bush to the road. It was in the process that a good Samaritan saw them and informed the police, who then took both of them to Akamkpa General Hospital, where she later died at about 3:40a.m., on January 11.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, said:

“We have apprehended the suspect; he was brought from Akamkpa this morning (Monday) to the headquarters. He confessed that he gave his daughters acid mixed with malt to drink because he had a premonition that they would kill him like they killed his parents. 

“He had the belief because they confessed to him that they were witches. So he carried out the dastardly act to save his life first.”

41 Years Old Man Slaps Taxi Driver Into Coma Over Buhari’s Death Rumour In Asaba

 
A Taxi driver in Delta state got more than he bargained for and ended up in a coma after claiming that President Muhammmadu Buhari was dead, probably due to the rumours he heard.

Leadership reports that he was slapped into deep unconsciousness at Temple Clinic Junction Asaba by a 41-year-old man identified as Usman Bukar who is said to hail from Kano state.

The story according to an eyewitness;

Bukar was said to have attacked the driver whose name was not given after he openly celebrated an online media report alleging that President Buhari had died. The driver, who had joined other ‘free readers’ at a newspaper stand at Temple Clinic Junction was reported to have not only celebrated Buhari’s death but also made inciting comments about the country’s number one citizen.

He was reported to have said: “The body of the President should be thrown into River-Niger, he is very wicked, for fish and other wild animals to do justice on him.”

The driver’s words angered Bukar, who was also at the newsstand. Leadership quoted a source as saying that “he (Bukar) slapped the driver and following the slap, the man immediately moved into unexpected coma” .

It was timely intervention of the police that prevented the matter from turning bloody.

Leadership reports that the driver was later rushed to a private hospital where he was 'revived'.

Spokesman of Delta state police command, Andrew Aniamaka confirmed that the man is receiving treatment, adding that Bukar had been arrested and detained for interrogation.

Meet The Two New Housemates In The Big Brother Naija 2017

Housemates in the on-going Big Brother Naija expected an eviction on the show last night, 5 housemates were put up for the possible eviction, but they were surprised as not only was it a fake eviction, they also got two more people in the house. In his mock evictions; Biggie had evicted Marvis and Tboss to the dismay and shock of the other Housemates, and there were mixed reactions from the old Housemates with some not able to control the shock and tears.  The two new housemates were introduced during the live show anchored by Ebuka Obi.

The 2017 SAG Awards took place on Sunday night, honoring some of the most celebrated actors and actresses of the past year.

There were a few surprises in both television and film in the top awards. The cast of “Hidden Figures,” including Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae, beat such tough competitors as “Fences,” “Moonlight,” and “Manchester by the Sea” to take best cast in an ensemble.

UN Warns Trump's Order Banning Refugees

 
The UN has cautioned the U.S. government on the “Refugee Order’’ signed on Friday by President Donald Trump temporarily banning refugees into the country from seven countries.
The International Organisation for Migration and the UN High Commission for Refugees in a joint statement said the contributions of refugees to their countries of refuge had been positive.

“The needs of refugees and migrants worldwide have never been greater, and the U.S. resettlement programme is one of the most important in the world.
“The longstanding U.S. policy of welcoming refugees has created a win-win situation: it has saved the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world who have in turn enriched and strengthened their new societies.

“The contribution of refugees and migrants to their new homes worldwide has been overwhelmingly positive,’’ the UN agencies stated.
According to the statement, resettlement places provided by every country are vital.


The UN agencies pledged to engage with the U.S. government to ensure the protection of refugees and migrants in the country.
“UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and IOM, the International Organisation for Migration, hope that the U.S. will continue its strong leadership role and long tradition of protecting those who are fleeing conflict and persecution.

“UNHCR and IOM remain committed to working with the U.S. Administration towards the goal we share to ensure safe and secure resettlement and immigration programmes,’’ the statement said.
The statement said the UN agencies also urged equal treatment for refugees and migrants without discrimination.

“We strongly believe that refugees should receive equal treatment for protection and assistance, and opportunities for resettlement, regardless of their religion, nationality or race.
“We will continue to engage actively and constructively with the U.S. government as we have done for decades to protect those who need it most, and to offer our support on asylum and migration matters,’’ it stated.

I Almost Committed Suicide Due To Poverty But My Mother Saved Me – Mr. Ibu

 

John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu in a new interview, has revealed that he would have taken his life since 1997 due to the hardship he faced in life.

According to him, at that point in his life, things were so hard that he could barely afford to feed himself. To make matters worse, the actor said he had no roof over his head and suicide seemed like the easiest option.

He told Saturday Beats: “Do you know that there was a day that I had prepared to kill myself in Ajao Estate? That day, I was prepared to jump into a well because of the situation that surrounded me.
Three days before that day, I had not eaten and I did not have hope of eating for the next week. I was only surviving on water and I hate it when I bother anyone. 

Most of my close friends were not bothered about my well-being even though it was obvious that I was not alright. I remember December 18, 1997, a friend of mine who I squatted with called me in the morning and told me that he would be going home for Christmas and he did not want anyone to be in his room. 

I assured him that no one would come to his place but he said he wanted me out of the room. I told him that I did not have another place to stay and he should trust me that as usual, I would take good care of the place. Though I was older than him, I did all the washing and cleaning of the house to the extent that I washed his panties and underwear.
I did that so that I could have a roof over my head. But out of anger, that my friend went into the house, brought out all my things and threw them outside, then he told me to leave his house, he locked his door and left. 

“From where I was seated, I was looking at the well. I thought to myself, ‘is it not better to end my life by jumping into the well so that when people return in the evening and they need water, they would discover my body and my friend would know that he was the reason I committed suicide?’
I went to the well and as I opened the lid and prepared to jump inside, the image of my mother’s face flashed through my mind. I quickly closed the well and began to wonder how my mother knew that I wanted to kill myself. 

My mother was still alive at the time; she was about 80 years old. I went back and leaned by the wall. A neighbour, Francis, was playing a song by Michael Bolton titled ‘When I am back on my Feet Again.’ The song gave me hope and I decided to stay alive,” he said.

Okafor said that after he had decided against killing himself, he needed to find somewhere to sleep and since he had no one to stay with; he opted to sleep under a lorry, a space where dogs used as their house.

He stayed there for a while till God sent a helper to him.

“I cleaned the place and was able to get some cartons which I used to do a tent. In the course of cleaning the place, I realised that it was dogs that used to sleep there at night but I had no choice.
One night, about 30 dogs were barking so no one could sleep so I had to move my cartons to another location. While I was changing my bearing, I saw some people gathering. I hid my cartons, went close to the place and saw that it was a movie audition. I saw some of my friends there like Pete Edochie, and a friend called Sandra Ezeh. 

When Sandra saw me, she hugged me and said she was a big fan of my work especially my role in ‘Ikuku.’ She asked if I was doing anything and when I told her I wasn’t, she insisted that I accompany her to see her boyfriend.
Since I had no job, I followed her; beside, all I needed then was food. I was so hungry at the time that it began to affect my eye sight. Sadly, her boyfriend had travelled so she said we should go to see another friend.

We met the woman who owned a bar and when I asked for food, she said all she had was pepper soup and drinks. I told her to give me pepper soup and she was nice enough to tell them to give me two agidi with the pepper soup. After I ate the food, I fell into a deep sleep.
“When I woke up, I saw an address, 125 Adetola Street, then immediately, I remembered that a friend had called me asking me to stay in his house because he was travelling to Germany and that was the address. 

Immediately I crossed the street and went to the house. When I got into the house, my friend, Frank, just got in from London. He was so happy to see me that he hugged me and we both fell to the ground. He then said that no matter where I was staying, I had to move into his house.
We went to pick my load from where I put it. Frank asked why my load was outside and I lied to him that I was preparing to travel. That was how he gave me a room in his flat. I prayed to God thanking him for saving me. He started taking me out and buying me clothes. It was from there I got my footing,” he said.

24 Years Old Lady Narrates How She Discovered She Was HIV + At Age 12

 

24-year-old Doreen Moraa, was born with HIV, and she disclosed in an interesting interview with eDaily how she learnt of her status while still in primary school.
Her touching story serves as a great lesson...

 

Doreen’s parents are a discordant couple, meaning one of her parents is HIV positive(+) and the other one is HIV negative(-). The Kenyan lady comes from a family of five siblings, one died a few years back. She is the only child in her family living with the virus.
About how she got to know of her status, Doreen said:

“When I was aged 12 and a pupil in Standard Seven. During one of my many hospital visits, I overheard my mum talking with my doctor. All along, I was visiting the hospital, but I did not know what exactly was wrong with me. I heard the doctor ask my mum: ‘When did you discover that she is HIV (Positive)?’’

“I did not even wait to hear my mum’s response. I was already confused. It found when we had already been introduced to HIV in class. So, our teacher made it sound like it was a death sentence. I was shocked to hear the doctor’s question directed at my mum. But after some time I thought to myself: maybe I heard the wrong thing. I thus brushed it off.”

“The following year, my mum went into coma. She was really sick. Actually, we had given up. We thought she was going to pass on. But then, she recovered. And after fully regaining her health, she took me to hospital, I got tested and the doctor disclosed to me my HIV status. He told me: ‘Doreen, you will have to take antiretroviral drugs for the rest of your life.”

Doreen’s dating life has not been easy because telling someone your status is rather scary because you are afraid of their reaction. She once dated a guy whom she disclosed her status to.

 

At first, he thought she was joking and so they went to get tested together. She came out positive and the guy was negative. He was shocked and couldn’t speak on their way home. With that, she feels challenged to disclose her status to someone because of their reaction.

As she went about her life and learning to deal with her status, she set up a group called Hope Alive. It is comprised of young people who spread the word that living positively with HIV is possible.

Doreen always encourage other people living with HIV and everyone saying, “HIV is not a death sentence and the cure to HIV doesn’t lie in some laboratory in America, China, Korea or Britain.”
