SPAIN TO HOLD CULTURAL WEEK IN ABUJA

The Ambassador of Spain to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Alvaro Castillo Aguilar, on Friday, said the 8th Spanish Cultural Week will hold from October 7 to 11 in Abuja.
The ambassador made the statement during a press conference held in preparation for the occasion in Abuja.

He noted that the embassy has made effort to keep alive the activity of the country’s cultural agenda, not only to allow Spanish nationals bring “the Nigerian public and those of other nationalities close to their culture, but to also serve as a medium of integrating two cultures so close and, at the same time, so far away from each other, as are those of Spain and Nigeria.”
“In order not to lose the nature of the event, we shall get involved one more time this year with different activities that will evolve around a common theme, which is the figure and work of Federico Garcia Lorca and his generation,” he said. “The Anabel Veloso Dance Troupe will render homage to the poet and his contemporaries through their recently premiered show, ‘The Generation of the 80s: offspring of the 27s’ and will fill the hall with verses of Lorca, brushstrokes of Dali and, of course, with the rhythm of Flamenco.
“The poetic work of our homage will also be the inspiration of the young Nigerian artistic talents, who will cast the verses of the author into their colour palettes and workshops, giving forms and colour to the verses of Lorca,” he said.
Aguilar added that besides the Flamenco Show, the Gastronomy Week and the Art Competition, this year will also witness excellent performances of the Jos Repertory Theatre, rendering Spanish works in English Language.
“On this occasion, Federico Garcia Lorca’s play, ‘La zapatera prodigiosa’ (The Shoemaker’s Wonderful Wife), will be performed,” he said.

Another attempted break-in occurred at Rihanna‘s home on Friday October 4, 2013, but this time the intruder was arrested by police.
A man was caught red-handed by the singer’s security team as he attempted to scale the wall surrounding her plush Pacific Palisades mansion at 11am on Friday morning Friday October 4, 2013. The would-be home invader fled the scene, but police caught up with him a mile away from the superstar’s $12 million property, TMZ reports.
This comes after a group of burglars tried to break into Rihanna’s home last weekend – only to be thwarted by the burglar alarm, which was set off when they threw a chair through a sliding glass door. It appears the trespasser could be one of the original gang as he looked ‘very much’ like one of the suspects when police reviewed the security footage from the first break-in.
The 25-year-old star wasn’t at home during either of the incidents since she is currently on the Australian leg of her ‘Diamonds’ world tour. Cops are still on the lookout for the original intruders, who entered the grounds by cruising up Rihanna’ private road by car, ignoring the sign reading, ‘Smile, you’re on camera’, in her driveway.
This marks the third incident in recent months of attempted break-ins at Rihanna’s place. In June, a man was caught by her security team climbing onto her roof, while back in February a wannabe thief accidentally broke into her neighbour’s house instead of hers.

“On the third dig, the operator found there was blood amongst the soil, and with a further dig, a dying huge snake appeared,” said the post.

“By the time the workers came back, the wounded boa had died, while the other snake had disappeared. The bulldozer operator was so sick that he couldn’t even stand up.”
The post claimed that the digger driver was so traumatised that he suffered a heart attack on his way to hospital and later died.

LOS ANGELES It's a boy for Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez.

A representative for the 47-year-old actress confirms that the couple welcomed their son on Saturday.

Publicist Meredith O'Sullivan Wasson offered no other details.

E! News reports Berry delivered the baby at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

This is the second child for Berry. She has a 5-year-old daughter with her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry. The two settled their custody battle over the child in 2012.

This is the first child for Martinez. The French actor and Berry married in July.

24 year old former Miss Osun State Oyebanke Oyelami was apparently pregnant before marrying Hon. Rotimi Makinde on August 24th. The politician told reporters..

"Yes she's pregnant. There's nothing to hide about it. It's a thing of joy. She was pregnant before the wedding was formalized and by the grace of God we will all celebrate when she delivers." 

WHITE MAN SHOT AN 8YEAR OLD BOY ON THE FACE

The grandmother of the 8-year-old Dallas boy who was shot in the face by his White neighbor says her son’s emotional health has taken a heavy blow.
D.J. Maiden has been recovering in a Dallas hospital after cops say Brian Cloninger, 46 yrs, shot him in the face in their apartment complex. His grandmother, Sharon Locklin, says her grandson may never regain the feeling in his jaw.

 
“He don’t want the kids to look at his face,” she said. “He says, ‘I look like a monster, granny.’ I’m like, ‘No, you don’t.’”
Cloninger is being held on bond and is charged with felony injury to a child. It is not known why Cloninger shot the boy. Community activist feel the charges are too low and have called for attempted murder charges.
We don’t want him to be on the streets,” she said. “No matter what charges is, we want him to stay in.”
D.J. began his treatment at the Children’s Medical Center of Dallas; he is now being treated at Baylor Medical Center. He’ll undergo another surgery in a few weeks.
