A broadcast journalist with Accra-based Oman FM, escaped death on Friday after he was shot by suspected armed robbers.

The journalist, Michael Craigg Afful, who lives at official town, a suburb of Ashaiman with his wife and other relatives, was rushed to the Tema General Hospital for treatment, and has since been discharged.

According to him, the incident occurred around 2:00am on Friday, when he heard some movements on his compound.
He said when he got up to find out what was happening, the armed robbers had already broken into his room through the main entrance.

He said he was pushed to the floor and asked to surrender all the money he had. He obliged and gave them Ghc1,300 and CFA 3,000.
The robbers also made away with a flat screen LED television and four mobile phones belonging to him and other occupants of the house.
“I was shot in my leg when I attempted raising alarm, they beat me up till I also lost two of my teeth.”

Over 100,000 Visas Cancelled Since President Trump Signed The Order On Immigration

During a court session in Virginia on Friday, February 3, 2017, government lawyers revealed that over 100,000 visas have been cancelled since President Trump's executive order on immigration and travel was signed on January 27.


The number came in response to a question from the judge about how many people have been affected by this order.

Erez Reuveni, from the Office of Immigration Litigation at the Civil Division of the Justice Department, also said no returning legal permanent residents have been denied entry.

 The judge also extended a temporary restraining order against removing lawful permanent residents until next Friday.

Woman who probably have thought of how she will cope in this recession period, fainted twice at her work place after she received a sack letter from her employer. 
 
The lady, a staff of Kaduna Electric Distribution Company, identified as Asmau Sulaiman, fainted twice after she read the content of a letter handed to her and discovered she's been sacked.

According to Premium Times, the the mother of two, was among 530 workers disengaged by the electricity distribution company on Tuesday.

Speaking to a reporter, some of the woman's colleagues said she slumped immediately she read the content of the sack letter. “She fainted again as we helped her down from the office on the first floor”, said Rilwan Sani, one of the staff.

Mrs. Suleiman who had worked for 15 months with the firm at its Rigasa Area Office in Kaduna until she was disengaged, she said she could not understand the reason why she was affected.
I refused to join my husband who is currently working in Saudi Arabia and I just recently relocated and transferred my two children school from Kano to Kaduna because of this Kaduna Electric work. Is this how they will reward our hard work?,” she said.
The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, said 530 of its members lost their jobs at the company.

The workers’ union said the company confirmed only 20 per cent of the workforce, terminated the appointments of 60 per cent and placed 20 per cent on extended probation for six months.

Nigeria Police Force Advise 2face Idibia To Quit The February 6th Planned Protest

The Nigeria Police Force have released a statement advising 2face Idibia and others to quit the February 6th planned protest. 

According to the police, they got information that another group is planning to hold a pro-government protest in the same venue as 2face's group and this may lead to break down of law and order. Read the statement below....

The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to publications in the media on the planned protests slated for 5th and 6th February, 2017 in Lagos and other States by different groups, one to be led by the popular musician INNOCENT IDIBIA aka TUFACE and other opposing groups.
 
2. Nigeria Police Force is deeply concerned with the security implications with regard to the planned protest/demonstrations, and as the lead security Agency in the country, is fully aware and recognizes the constitutional rights of every citizen (including Tuface and his group) to assemble and move freely in any part of the country.
3. In this regard, the Force is also cognizant of its constitutional responsibilities of taking any proactive/ preventive security measures:-
i. In the interest of public safety, public order, public morality or public health.
ii. For the purposes of protecting lives and property, as well as the constitutional rights and freedom of other citizens.
4. The Nigeria Police Force is currently in possession of credible intelligence reports that other interest groups are equally planning to hold a counter protest/matches on the same days at the same places/cities as the Tuface Group. If these various planned protests/ demonstrations are held as scheduled, that there may be breakdown of law and order, with attendant loss of lives and property.
5. To this end, the Nigeria Police Force deems it imperative to issue this press release:-
i. That Innocent Idibia (a.k.a Tuface) and his group are hereby advised strongly to shelve their planned peaceful protest/demonstration in the interest of peace and security.
ii. That the other opposing groups are equally advised strongly to shelve its planned counter protest/demonstration in the interest of peace and security.
iii. That the Nigeria Police Force is prepared to employ every possible legal means for the maintenance of law and order; and for the protection of lives and property.
6. Consequently, members of the public, parents and guardians, religious/opinion leaders and other interest groups are strongly advised to prevail on their children and wards, followers and adherents not to allow themselves to be used by any group to cause disturbance of public peace and break down of law and order.

Beyonce announced she is expecting twins  by sharing a picture of her bare baby bump on Instagram Wednesday afternoon. "We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over," Beyoncé and Jay Z said in a joint statement. "We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes." The couple, who tied the knot in 2008, are already parents to 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

 Beyoncé shared new pregnancy photos via her website Thursday. The 35-year-old musician provided no additional context, other than telling fans, "I have three hearts." She also included a poem written by Somali-British poet Warsan Shire. "venus has flooded me, second planet from the sun, i wake up on her foamy shore," the poem read. "she wants to take me to meet my children. I've done this before i'm still nervous."

The singer posed completely nude in one black-and-white set. In another scene, she posed topless for solo shots but covered up with a lacy bra as she posed alongside her mini-me. Beyoncé also posed nude for an underwater shoot, obscuring her privates with swaths of fabric. More photos below....
