LAGOS MONARCH'S FAMILY LOOSES N15.1M TO KIDNAPPERS BEFORE HE WAS RELEASED

The traditional ruler of Iba land, Oba Goriola Oseni on Friday said his abductors demanded N500 million as ransom for his release but his family paid N15.1 million.

He said this at a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere at the commencement of four men who abducted him.

“My abductors demanded N500m ransom but my family paid N15.1m to free me,” he said.
The accused are Duba Furejo, Ododowo Isaiah, Reuben Anthony and Yerin Fresh.

The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem (SAN) at the commencement of the trial had urged the court to exclude the public from the trial.
He said the decision will ensure the safety of the witnesses.

But counsels of the accused persons had objected to the request.

However, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in her ruling granted the requested.
Oseni while being interrogated narrated how he was kidnapped.

He said, “This is the king, the gunmen said. I asked them, ‘what can I do for you?’ Then they grabbed me. I was in only a boxer because I was preparing to take a bath.

“My Olori (Queens) came in and asked them where they were taking me to but they fled when the gunmen released some bullets in the decking of the room.”

He said he was dragged out and consequently whisked away.
He also confirmed that the kidnappers demanded N500m but his family paid N12m and N3.1m for his release.

The Oba’s son, Prince Kazeem said he personally delivered the ransom to where he was instructed to drop it.
Justice Taiwo adjourned the case till November 18, following a request by the prosecution for time to present more witnesses.
