Elderly Women Who Works As Sweepers In Lagos Protest 5 Months Unpaid Salaries (Photos)
Women who serve as sweepers in Lagos state, yesterday staged a protest in Ikeja over the non-payment of their salaries for 5 months. According to the protesting elderly women, some of them as old as 70, they were contacted by one Dafunol International Limited, a contractor engaged by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), to sweep the LAMATA-constructed bus shelters along Mile 12-Ketu –Ikorodu Road–Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) axis. The women say since March this year, the company has refused to pay them their N15, 000 monthly salary. They appealed to the Lagos state government to come to their aid and pay them their salaries.
